Bomb scare downtown today

Today, after a long meeting, I got away to a late lunch. I was headed to The Pour House on the corner of 5th and Throckmorton, but was surprised to see the street blocked off at 7th and the bomb squad truck sitting in the middle of the street.

According to the Startlegram, it seems there was an empty briefcase left near the bus stop that brought out the bomb squad. They tried the bomb-sniffing dogs first and then the x-ray, but nothing was conclusive. So, a brave bomb technician got suited up on this hot Texas day and opened the case to find it empty.

Luckily, it was nothing, but you can't be too careful these days and I applaud the Fort Worth Fire Department for their professionalism and dedication to keeping us safe.
