Last day of vacation

My last vacation day for some time. I woke up at 10 am after going to bed at 6 am updating my MAME collection.

We needed to go to Fry's to look for a very small power supply to fit a Sony Vaio desktop. I had ordered one and received it in, but it was too deep to fit the case.

As we headed over to Irving, to Fry's, I recalled that Ali Baba's was over there. Kathy had never eaten there, so I decided that was the lunch place today. We arrived just about 11:30 am, right before the lunch rush.

It is a buffet place, so people are coming and going all over the place. I am sitting there, finished with my plate of food, and ready to pay the check and leave when a former co-worker, Andrew Rubalacaba, walks up. He seemed to be doing well, working at Neiman Marcus in the IT department. I believe he said he was contracting there, at any rate, he seemed to be doing well.

We left and dropped by Fry's to grab a KVM switch, a micro-ATX power supply and some more canned air. I make sure every PC I work on leaves clean inside and out. I use the canned air to clear out the dust. I have one of those vaccuum/blower, and it works for most things, but the cooked-in dirt needs the higher pressure of the canned air.

We stopped by Home Depot to get some bathroom ideas and picked up a light for the dock. Since I have electricty there, I can hook up a light and we can enjoy the dock on the cooler evenings.

I had been working on a friend's PC and was trying to go a recover/reinstall of Windows after replacing a defecting motherboard. There were just too many driver changes and it wasn't going to work out. I had spent a number of hours trying and finally gave in, opting to back up the 'data' and reinstall Windows from scratch.

I went around and removed all of the screens at the house in preparation for the sola screens to be installled to try and cut down on some of the heat in the house late in the day.

Since I am not a fan of ladders, particularly falling from them, I hired a guy to come by and wash all of the windows so they would be clean when the solar screeens went on.
