I slept in a bit today while Kathy opened up the office. I watched some TV and then headed in to town about 11:15 am to grab some lunch at Subway. I picked up a foot-long sub and split it with Kathy back at the office.
When I arrived, I followed up on the two PCs on the bench, installing all Windows updates on them and removing any malware the virus scan found.
A former co-worker, Will, stopped by. His HP PC had a motherboard go out on it and I swapped it out. It required I reinstall everything, as it was a different board and the Windows drivers that were installed prior were not compatible. Since it was also infected with some malware, a clean install certainly wouldn't hurt.
I called a couple of remodeling guys from the paper, trying to get some more quotes on my potential bathroom remodel. One guy was too busy to even get to it until September and the other came out and will provide me with a bid.
The bids so far have been a bit high. I estimate there is about $700-$900 in materials and I am seeing bids from $3400 to $3900. That seems a little high for me. I estimate this is a two-man job and it might take 1.5 days to do. Two if you are slow.
If I can't find a price that is more in line with what I think it should cost, I will have to do it myself. I will take off a Monday-Tuesday and attack it Sunday evening, ripping out the tub Sunday evening, removing the flooring and small area of sheetrock Monday morning and then reinstalling the floor and plumbing Monday afternoon and finishing up on Tuesday.
